Terracotta
The term terracotta comes from the Italian and means fired earth. Thus, there are many different types of terracotta worldwide, whose clay is mined and processed on site. Depending on the origin, the composition of the clay results in an optically completely different end product. The contents of mineral and organic substances ultimately also determine how high the product can be fired. The higher the firing temperature, the more frost-resistant the end product. Terracotta strongholds include the Italian regions of Tuscany and Impruneta.
